LifeLock Aims At University Students
Tempe, Arizona-based LifeLock, the controversial provider of identity theft protection services, said today that it is offering colleges nationwide with speakers from the firm. The firm said that schools looking to educate faculty and students on how to better protect their personal information can tap the company for its expertise through its LifeLock Speakers Series program. LifeLock offers a service which sets credit alerts and looks to detect possible identity theft, however, the firm has been subject to lawsuits from major credit information firms such as Experian, and has been investigated by the FTC for its advertising claims. The firm, however, is backed by such investors as Bessemer Venture Partners, Biltmore Ventures, Goldman Sachs, and Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers.
