First Solar Plans To Double Capacity In Germany
Tempe, Arizona-based First Solar reported today that it is planning to double the production at its German manufacturing plant, located in Frankfurt. First Solar said the expansion is expected to double local production capacity, and also create several hundred new jobs. The plant already employs more than 600. First Solar said the expansion--which still requires regulatory permits and financing from German regional and federal authorities--would expand its capacity from 223MW to 446 megawatts of capacity by the fourth quarter of 2011.
