Three Regional Firms Benefit From NASA Effort
Three companies in the region are big beneficiaries of a NASA grant, aimed at boosting commercial spaceflight services. The $50M grant effort, which was announced Monday, includes awards to Paragon Space Development Corporation in Tucson, Sierra Nevada Corporation in Louisville, Colorado, and United Launch Alliance of Centennial, Colorado. According to NASA,the grants are aimed at making commercial provided services the primary mode of astronaut transportation to the International Space Station. Paragon is receiving $1.4M under the grant, Sierra Nevada Corporation gains $20M, and the United Launch Alliance is receiving $6.7M. The funds come from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
