LogRhythm, a developer of log management software, has scored a patent from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, covering the firm's technology. According to the firm, the patent, U.S. Patent 7,653,633, covers several innovations in content-aware log processing, management, analysis, and event management. The U.S. PTO indicates that the patent was granted on January 26th to Philip Villella and Chris Petersen. Petersen is co-founder and CTO of LogRhythm, and Villella is Chief Scientist. The patent indicates it covers techniques used to determine if various IT software log entries should generate alarms for an administrator. The firm filed for the patent in November of 2006,and was represented by Marsh Fischmann & Breyfogle LLP.
