Tempe, Arizona-based photovoltaic panel firm
First Solar said Tuesday that the firm has inked a memorandum of understanding with the Chinese government, to build a 2 gigawatt solar power plant in Inner Mongolia, China. According to First Solar, the deal will be build out over four phases, with the first phase being a 30 megawatt demonstration plant to be started on June 1, 2010, followed by a 100 megawatt, 870 megawatt, and 1,000 megawatt phase. The power plant is expected to be complete by 2019.
