GeneTree, a firm focused on family ancestry and family trees, said it has launched a new site site for companies looking to share family contact information, photos, videos, and ancestry documents. According to the site, it has completed beta testing of its site, and is now allowing users to sign up with the site to communicate with extended family, and share family contacts, stories, and other information. The site is going up against a number of web sites run by The Generations Network, including MyFamily.com and Ancestry.com, as well as Web 2.0 competitor Geni.com. Among the features of GeneTree is the ability to order DNA testing to find both living relatives and ancestors.
