FreeLinc Gets SBIR Award
FreeLinc, a developer of secure wireless technology, revealed Tuesday that it has won a SBIR grant from the U.S. Army. According to FreeLinc, the Soldier Sensors Branch of the U.S. Army Night Vision & Electronic Sensors Directorate's Ground Combat Systems Division has bestowed the Orem, Utah-based company with its Phase I Small Business Innovation Research award. Size of the grant as not disclosed. As a result of the agreement, FreeLinc explained, the directorate will begin researching a way to integrate FreeLinc's near-field magnetic induction communications technology into the Army's night vision program—a procedure that will enable the Army's shoulders to use night vision hardware and sophisticated weapon systems without the hassle of wires or cables.
