eBay Selects South Jordan For Data Center
Online auction site eBay has selected South Jordan, Utah for a site of a new, $334M data center, the San Jose-based firm and Utah's Office of Economic Development said Monday. The new center, which is just outside Salt Lake City, is expected to employ around 50 people. Attracting the data center was a $27.2M tax credit incentive offered by GOED back in June of 2008, specifically aimed at convincing the firm to move into the area. GOED had earlier estimated that the selection of Utah for eBay's new data center would generate in excess of $109M in State corporate and sales tax revenues, over the next 10 years. eBay already has call center activities in Utah.
