Atrato Inc., a provider of hosted data storage services, reported Wednesday that it has promoted Dr. Sam Siewert to chief technology officer. The Westminster, Colo.-based company said Siewert joined the firm in 2005 and previously held the position of principal software architect. Atrato described Siewert as a 20-year firmware, software and systems veteran whose insightful research aided a 1997 NASA experiment for the Space Shuttle Discovery. Before joining Atrato, the company noted, he held management and technical positions with Emulex Corp., Lucent Technologies, NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Ball Aerospace and McDonnell Douglas Space Systems.
