Parvus Deploys Wi-Fi For Utah Transit Authority Buses
Salt Lake City-based Parvus, a developer of ruggedized computers and equipment to the transportation, military, and other markets, said Thursday that the Utah Transit Authority has launched free wireless Internet on its entire fleet of commuter buses. The UTA is using the firm's Parvus' RiderNet access point technology for the wireless Internet services. Parvus did not disclose financial details on the win. According to Parvus, the deployment includes all 60 of the UTA's express route coaches. The win is an extension of a successful pilot conducted in 2007 on four of the UTA's Ogden buses. The Parvus product provides Wi-Fi within the buses, linked to Sprint's EV-DO Revision A data network on the backhaul.
