Albuquerque, New Mexico-based EMCORE, a provider of semiconductors and systems for the broadband, photovoltaic, and fiber optic markets, said today that it has consolidated its engineering operations in Virginia, Illinois, and Northern California. The firm said that it will move those operations into its sites in Albuquerque; Alhambra, California; and Warminster, Pennsylvania. The firm said the move was a result of the acquisition of several technology companies over the past few years, and allows it to reduce its operating costs and eliminate duplicate resources and infrastructure. The firm has already closed its Virginia design center, and will close its Illinois and Northern California sites by September.
