Utah Firm Holds Programming Contest, Looks To Recruit Engineers
American Fork, Utah-based Berkeley Data Systems, which operates the Mozy online backup and storage service, is holding a programming contest next month where it will give away $10,000 to the winner of a software coding contest. The contest, which is open to full-time residents of Utah who are over 18 years of age, is part of the firm's efforts to recruit local engineers. According to information posted on the firm's web site, the contest is a "thinly disguised recruiting effort" to find the best local engineers. Josh Coates, founder of Berkeley Data Systems, told Techrockies in an interview earlier this year that it had been a challenge for the firm to find engineers in the area.
