Entrepreneur Magazine has ranked Arizona as the best state for entrepreneurs, as well as naming the Phoenix-Mesa area number one on its overall rankings for the best large cities for entrepreneurship. Phoenix-Mesa ranked tops, with the magazine attributing the area's low commercial rents, and the city's SBA loan guarantees among reasons for the rankings. Among other cities on the list included Tucson, ranked number 5 in midsize cities; and Denver-Boulder-Greeley, Colorado, which was ranked number 3 in the list of best cities in the West. The magazine released the rankings in its September issue.
