CNET is reporting that Orem Utah-based Omniture is a prime candidate for an initial public offering next year. Omniture, which develops web analytics software used by companies to track their web hits and e-commerce sites, has not made any statements or filings to indicate that it is considering an IPO anytime soon. In an interview, CNET said that Omniture CEO Josh James said that the likelihood is an IPO will happen sometime in the future, but gave no indications on timeframe. Omniture is backed by Attractor, BA Venture Partners, and Hummer Winblad Venture Partners, and most recently received a $40M round of funding in July of this year. Omniture competes against WebSideStory, WebTrends, Coremetrics, and others in the web analytics area.
