Nearmap Links With OpenSolar For Solar Planning

Salt Lake City-based Nearmap, the provider of high resolution, aerial imaging, has linked up with solar planning software provider OpenSolar, the provide its imagery within OpenSolar's tools, the two said on Tuesday. According to Nearmap and OpenSolar, the two have combined Nearmap's high resolution vertical and oblique aerial imagery with OpenSolar's remote solar design software, which allows designers to get a better view of a project from multiple angles, and even see shadows created by trees and other structures at different times of the year -- meaning it's easier to place panels and model energy output and return on investment (ROI). Financial details of the link between the two companies were not detailed. Nearmap is led by CEO Rob Newman.
