Sion Power Targets Manufacturing This Year For New Lithium Battery

Tucson-based Sion Power, which develops lithium battery technology, said this week that it will begin production of its Licerion rechargeable lithium metal battery later this year. According to the company, it expects to start manufacturing the battery in late 2018 in Tucson. The company is targeting its rechargeable, lithium battery technology for the aerial vehicle (UAV) and electric vehicle (EV) markets. Sion Power has been working on its battery technology for the last 10 years. Sion Power is backed by strategic investor BASF.
