Peak 10 + ViaWest, the combined colocation and IT provider made up of Denver's ViaWest and fellow IT provider Peak 10, is in a major expansion in Pennsylvania, the company said today. According to Peak 10 + ViaWest, it has acquired a massive, 203,000-square-foot data center in Collegeville, PA. The data center was previously owned by GlaxoSmithKline plc (GSK). Financial details of the acquisition were not announced. According to Peak 10 + ViaWest, the deal will grow its total data center footprint to three million square feet. The new data center is the largest, purpose-built, stand-alone data center with immediately leasable space in the greater Philadelphia market, according to Peak 10 + ViaWest. Peak10 acquired ViaWest in June in a $1.675 billion cash deal.
