Venafi Gets Two Patents

Salt Lake City-based Venafi, a developer of identity protection software based on machine identity, said today that it has received two new patents from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, bringing it to a total of 19 issues and 12 patents pending. Venafi did not provide the filing number for patents it referenced in its release. The USPTO lists the last, assigned patent to Venafi as U.S. Patent No. 9,686,244, granted on June 20, 2017, and naming Remo Ronca as inventor; it's unclear if this is one of the patents referenced by Venafi in its release, or if the company is holding the new patents under a different corporate entity (which is not unusual for companies). The USPTO lists 16 patents currently directly assigned to Venafi under its corporate name. Venafi is venture backed by Foundation Capital, Intel Capital, Origin Partners, Pelion Venture Partners, QuestMark Partners, Mercato Partners and NextEquity.
