Comcast To Launch Gigabit Internet Across Utah
Cable and broadband Internet provider Comcast said late Tuesday that it plans to launch gigabit internet connectivity to customers in Utah, starting in early 2017. According to Comcast, it will implement the new, high-speed service through existing wiring, using DOCSIS 3.1 technology. The company said it will offer the super speedy speeds across the state. The company already offers 2 Gigabit, high-speed Internet links through fiber, however, those require professional installation and equipment retrofit. Utah has long been a pioneer in offering up high-speed links to residents, due to the far-thinking efforts of such local communities as Provo, Utah, which all the way back in 2001 started wiring up homes using high speed fiber connections for its iProvo high speed Internet network.
