TechStars Opens New Accelerator, This Time In Kansas
Boulder-based startup accelerator operator Techstars is in another expansion, saying over the weekend that it has decided to open a new program in Kansas City. The new program, Techstars Kansas City, will open applications in January of 2017, and initially select 10 startups for a program beginning in July of 2017. The new program will be led by Managing Director Lesa Mitchell. Techstars has been involved in the Kansas technology ecosystem since 2013, when co-founder Brad Feld purchased a house--the "Feld Fiber House"--to specifically allow startups to tap into the newly installed gigabit fiber being installed as part of Google Fiber. Kansas also was home to the Sprint Accelerator, which was also run by Techstars.
