GoSpotCheck Finds $16.9M In Series B

Denver-based GoSpotCheck, which develops software-as-a-service used by large companies to manage their field sales and service operations, has raised $16.9M in a Series B funding round, the company said this morning. The funding came from Insight Venture Partners, and also included Point Nine Capital. The startup, led by Matt Talbot, says it has now raised $26.3M in total funding. GoSpotCheck says it has grown its headcount by 5X in the last two years, and now has over 70 people, and expects to have more than 100 employees by the end of 2016. Talbot founded GoSpotCheck out of TechStars Boulder, discovering a very fast growing market being driven by the adoption of smartphones int he enterprise, in a poster child for a successful pivot driven by the startup accelerator experience. Talbot originally had been developing a maternity-wear rental business, pivoted to mystery shopping, but quickly found out through TechStars that the real business was behind the software it had built for tracking its own employees in the field.
