Zayo Takes On DDoS Mitigation

Boulder-based colocation and bandwidth provider Zayo Group has launched a new product offering to help companies fend of Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks, the company said Thursday. Zayo said it will provide managed re-routing of impacted traffic to one of a number of "global scrubbing centers", to protect websites for attacks up to 120G. Distributed Denial of Service attacks--which are the bane of web companies and e-commerce providers--are the use of hundreds, and sometimes thousands of compromised computers to take down websites, by overwhelming them with network traffic. Zayo said it has updated its software and hardware to be able to identify and drop traffic which is used in those DDoS attacks. Pricing on the new offering was not disclosed.
