Verizon: 3.1 Terabytes Of Data Consumed During Broncos Parade
Verizon says that Broncos fans who packed downtown Denver on Tuesday for the Broncos' victory parade consumed 3.1 terabytes of data from 8am to 4pm, with the company to beefing up capacity along the route in order to handle the estimated 1 million people who attended the event. Verizon said it beefed up capacity at some of the 29 sites covering the parade route, and that it event deployed mobile cell sites on trucks (what it calls cells on light trucks, or COLTs) to make sure that there was enough cell coverage along the route. Despite widespread coverage by wireless carriers, big events like the Broncos parade regularly test the capacity available at local cell sites. Snapshot from the parade courtesy David Walker @ Flickr.
