Zayo Reaches 1,200 Small Cell Deployments
Boulder, Colorado-based bandwidth provider Zayo Group says it has just reached 1,200 small cell nodes in its network, just two years after the company entered the market, the company said Friday. According to Zayo, the company has seen "strong cash flow" on the sites, which are used to help wireless carriers improve the coverage, particularly in dense, metropolitan areas. Zayo had entered the market two years ago, as an extension of its business providing fiber connections to telecom carriers (fiber-to-the-tower, FTT). The move allows those same carriers to leverage Zayo's infrastructure and small cell sites, instead of having to maintain, permit, and install their own sites--which has typically been a major headache for those carriers.
