Rise Broadband Gets $16.9M For Rural Internet Service
Denver-based Rise Broadband, which provides fixed wireless broadband services, said yesterday that it has been awarded $16.9M by the FCC, to provider rural Internet service. The company said the reward comes from the FCC's Rural Broadband Experiment program. The deal calls for Rise Broadband to deliver high-speed Internet and phone service to unserved or under-served homes and businesses in five states, covering roughly 43,000 homes and businesses in rural parts of Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, and Texas. The award was made to Rise Broadband's Skybeam subsidiary.
