Digital Realty Buys Property In Phoenix For Data Center Expansion

A data center operator has acquired some property in Phoenix, for the building of a new data center. Digital Realty Trust, a San Francisco company which builds and operates data centers nationally, said it has acquired three buildings in Phoenix, Arizona, totaling approximately 227,000 square feet. The purchase price was approximately $24.0M. Digital Realty said that the first building, with approximately 109,000 square feet, will be added to its inventory held for development into a data center; the firm said the building can support approximately 7.2 megawatts of IT capacity. The firm intends to lease out the additional two buildings on short term lease to offset the near term carrying cost on its new property.
