Rocky Mountain Region Firms Draw $261.8M In Venture Capital Q3
The latest venture capital numbers from the MoneyTree report, the quarterly venture capital summary produced by PricewaterhouseCoopers and the National Venture Capital Association, finds that there was $261.8M in venture capital investd in the Rocky Mountain region in Q3 of 2012. Those numbers were below the $341.0M raised by companies in Q2. Data from the report was provided by Thomson Reuters.
Colorado led the region with 28 deals and $180.8M in investments, followed by Utah with 14 deals and $57.38M invested. Arizona had $22.5M in one venture capital investment, with New Mexico having $1.2M across two deals, and a single deal of unspecified size in Idaho.
Nationally, venture capital numbers declined in both dollars and deals, with companies raising $6.5 billion across 890 deals in the quarter. The report attributed much of the national decline to reduced investments in clean technology and life sciences, as well as a slowdown in early and seed state investment. Image courtesy Bigstock.
