Report: GoDaddy Shutting Cloud Computing Service
Scottsdale, Arizona-based web hosting and domain name registrar GoDaddy has quietly shut its cloud computing service, according to reports today. GoDaddy had launched into cloud hosting in May. The news came via a leak from an ex-employee, via GigaOm. GoDaddy's move into cloud hosting was an attempt to join such ISPs as Rackspace, which have moved strongly towards providing cloud computing services similar to Amazon.com's AWS web services to clients. It's unclear on why GoDaddy decided to move away from the cloud, however, the firm has traditionally served more small businesses rather than the enterprises who typically would use cloud computing offerings.
