Award Seeks To Spur Girls' Interest In Computing, Technology
A new award, being offered by the National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT), is seeking to spur interest in computing and technology in high school girls, through a new award. NCWIT--which is a nonprofit run out of the University of Colorado, Boulder--said its Aspirations in Computing award will provide young women with a range of prizes in national and local events. The national award includes $500 in cash plus a laptop computer, plus a trip to the Bank of America Technology Showcase and Awards Ceremony in Charlotte, North Carolina in March of next year. Bank of America is sponsoring the competition. Deadline for applying is October 31, 2012.
