NewsGator Responds To Yammer Buy
Denver-based NewsGator, the social software developer headed by JB Holston, has a message for everyone: the firm is still relevant after the acquisition of social discussion firm Yammer. NewsGator, in a blog post on its site, said that it is "alive and well, and moving faster than ever" on its social software, which ties heavily into Microsoft's SharePoint software. The firm said it was responding publicly to many questions about how the $1.2 billion acquisition of Yammer fits into its plans; Yammer's software occupies a similar position in powering social discussions as NewsGator's own software. NewsGator said it is "unfashionably profitable".
