Ascent Solar Tackles Retail With iPhone Charger

Thornton, Colorado-based thin film photovoltaic module developer Ascent Solar looks to be tackling the retail market, with a new charger aimed at users of the Apple iPhone. The firm said its new product, which features its flexible, thin film CIGS technology, provides a protection iPhone 4/4S case and battery, which is charged by sunlight hitting that case. Ascent said it plans to roll out its line of EnerPlex products for other smart phones, including the Samsung Galaxy S III. The move is an interesting shift to a retail distribution for Ascent Solar, which has been mostly announcing licensing deals with others to incorporate its technology.
