Next Giant Leap Gets $1M For Lunar Lander
Boulder-based Next Giant Leap, a team of aerospace engineers focused on winning the Google Lunar X-Prize , said today that it has scored $1M in new funding from Draper Laboratory for its efforts. Next Giant Leap is focused on development of a lunar module, for taking small payloads to the moon. Draper Laboratory is based in Massachusetts, and is associated with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Giant Leap's academic partner. Google is funding the Google Lunar X PRIZE, which is looking to spur development of a viable lunar lander to return the United States to the moon.
