Utah Technology Council To Honor Three
The Utah Technology Council (UTC), the industry group which promotes the technology industry in Utah, said today that it will be inducting three people into its UTC Hall of Fame this year. According to the UTC, it will be honoring Gary L. Crocker and Governor Michael O. Leavitt to the group, as well as posthumously induct Dale H. Ballard to the list. Crocker is president of life sciences investment firm Crocker Ventures, and previously was a co-founder of Theratech, which was acquired in 1999 by Watson Pharmaceuticals. Leavitt, aside from his position as Governor, is founder and chairman of Leavitt Partners, which advises clients in the health care and food safety sector, and the UTC credited Leavitt with creating a "new vision for information technology in the beehive state." Ballard was founder of Ballard Medical Products, and also co-founded Deseret Pharmaceutical Company with James L. Sorenson and Victor Cartwright.
