USTAR Awards Two Grants

The Utah Science Technology and Research initiative (USTAR), the State funded effort to kickstart the technology industry in Utah, said today that it has made two commercialization grants to companies in southern Utah. According to USTAR, it has funded two companies out of Southern Utah University (SUU) and Dixie Applied Technology College (DATC). The companies are Cedar City-based IDT, which co-applied for the grants with SUU, and Washington, Utah-based H2O Performance, which is partnered with DATC. IDT is focused on rail car maintenance using RFID technology, and H2O performance is developing fuel cell technology for car and truck engines. Amount of the grants was not announced.
