Ancestry.com Expands Navy Records
Provo, Utah-based genealogy site Ancestry.com disclosed last night that it has expanded its collection of military records, as part of a commemoration of Veterans Day. The firm said it has added more than 600 Navy cruise books to its online collection, after an effort to scan records from the Navy Department Library in Washington, DC. The firm said the records represent 40 years of cruises following World War II, and contain the names and photographs of an estimated 450,000 servicemen deployed at sea during that time. Ancestry.com said the company's U.S. Military Collection can be searched for free through November 13th.
