Biotech Firm Opens Facility In Phoenix, To Employ 200
A Los Angeles healthcare firm, Abraxis Health, said today that it is opening up a new manufacturing plant in Phoenix, which it expects will create 200 high tech jobs in the area. Abraxis, which provides chemotherapy treatments for metastatic breast cancer, said it will invest $70M in the new biopharma manufacturing plant, which it says will be the world's largest and most sophisticated protein nanobiologics manufacturing plant. The site was formerly owned by Watson Pharmaceuticals. Abraxis said it has hired more than 100 former Watson employees and is recruiting additional staff.
