Micron, IDT In Solid State Disk Alliance

Boise, Idaho-based memory products manufacturer Micron, and semiconductor developer IDT announced this morning that the two firms are in a strategic alliance. According to the two, they will jointly develop PCI Express-based, Solid State disk drives (SSDs). The offering will combine Micron's RealSSD solid state drives along with IDT's flash controllers. Financial details of the alliance were not disclosed. The companies said they will be focusing on the server, storage and embedded markets with the product.
