DigitalGlobe Debuts Crisis Imaging Service
Longmont, Colorado-based satellite imagery provider DigitalGlobe revealed Wednesday that it has unveiled a new Web service that will aid government agencies in planning for--and responding to--emergencies. The firm said the online offering, called Crisis Event Service, will provide a comprehensive picture of global crises, including three high-resolution images of affected areas. DigitalGlobe noted that, through the Crisis Event Service, the pre- and post-event images will be available online within one to three days of any given emergency. DigitalGlobe added that the new service's imagery is currently collected from two satellites and that a third satellite will soon be in orbit to contribute even more imagery. Pricing on the new service was not released.
