Alianza Sells GetFon Subsidiary to Mexico's Alestra
Lindon, Utah-based Alianza Inc. announced Tuesday that it has agreed to sell its GetFon LLC subsidiary to Alestra, a Mexican telecommunications provider jointly owned by AT&T Inc. and Grupo ALFA. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Alianza, which offers a hosted voice-over-Internet Protocol solution for WiMAX service providers, founded GetFon in 2003. Since then, Alianza said, GetFon has grown into a full-fledged provider of IP telephony services and now boasts more than 6,000 customers, primarily small- and medium-sized businesses throughout Latin America. Alianza noted that the transaction includes the migration of GetFon's customer base and a long-term license agreement under which Alestra will use Alianza's hosted platform.
