Limelight to Provide Streaming Olympic Coverage
Digital video content delivery network provider Limelight Networks Inc. revealed Tuesday that it will provide live and on-demand video streaming services to NBCOlympics.com on MSN during NBC's coverage of the 2008 Beijing Olympics. The financial impact of the new business was not disclosed. Limelight said it will function as the primary content delivery network for all video content at NBCOlympics.com, which is being produced by NBC and MSN. Limelight said it will help NBC and Microsoft provide virtual viewers with access to some 2,200 total hours of live streaming Olympic broadband video coverage and about 3,000 hours of highlights and replays. The 2008 Beijing Olympics begins Aug. 8 and will last more than two weeks. Limelight Networks is headquartered in Tempe, Ariz.
