Webroot Hires CFO

Security software publisher Webroot said Monday that it has hired Frederick Ball as chief financial officer. Ball, the Boulder, Colo.-based company said, will direct its financial operations and develop plans for long-term growth. Prior to Webroot, Ball was CFO at BigBand Networks, which he helped achieve an initial public offering in 2007. Before that, Webroot said, Ball served as chief operating officer at CallTrex Corp., where he supervised the 2004 sale of the early stage company's corporate assets. He also held senior leadership roles at Borland Software Corp. and KLA-Tencor Corp. and spent more than a decade working for PriceWaterhouseCoopers.
