Public Engines' Site to Serve Bay Area Agencies

Public Engines, a publisher of software applications for government agencies, revealed Wednesday that four Bay Area law enforcement agencies will use Public Engines' first product, CrimeReports.com, to keep their respective communities informed of criminal happenings. The financial impact of the deal was not disclosed. Public Engines said its new California-based clients are the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office and the Palo Alto, Gilroy and Los Gatos police departments. Public Engines explained that, thanks to CrimeReports.com, citizens in the four communities will be to read and review recent and relevant crime activity reports, which are presented through a Google Maps interface. Public Engines added that this service will be provided free of charge to local residents. Headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah, Public Engines launched CrimeReports.com with the San Jose (Calif.) Police Department in September 2007.
