NewsGator Launches Widget Software
Denver, Colorado-based NewsGator, a provider of RSS aggregation software, said Thursday that it has launched a new widget software tool. The new software, called the NewsGator Widget Framework, allows content providers to syndicate content to web sites and blogs through "widgets" -- small mini applications that anyone can add to their web pages. Widgets are small software applications which are embedded into web pages, social networking profiles, blogs, via third party web sites, usually by end users. According to NewsGator, the firm's Widget Framework tool provides control over content, support for both HTML and Flash, and analytics support. NewsGator also said that the new software is being used by the Discovery Channel to promote "Shark Week", the channel's upcoming focus on shark programs and content.
