Novell Adds Microsoft Office 2007 Support
Novell said today that the firm's open source OpenOffice.org office productivity suite is now supporting Microsoft's Office Open XML format. The move is part of an effort by Novell and Microsoft to create open source tools to connect word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation tools from OpenOffice.org and Microsoft Office. According to Novell, the first translator, between the word processing components of the software, will be available by the end of January 2007. Open XML is the format used by Microsoft Office 2007 to save files. OpenOffice.org is Novell's open-source project alternative to Microsoft Office.
