COPAN Increases Density
Longmont, Colorado-based COPAN Systems has increased the density of its disk archive systems, saying today that its new Revolution 200 products now provide 44 TB per square foot, and 448TB in a single cabinet capabilities, using new, 500GB disk drives. COPAN develops disk storage systems optimized for near-line storage, as a replacement for tape backup. The firm's MAID (Massive Array of Idle Disk) technology uses power conservation techniques and affordable disk arrays to store near-line data and replace offline tape backup.
