Utah Student Wins Intel Science Talent Search
Utah Student Shannon Babb, of American Fork High School, has won the prestigious Intel Science Talent Search. Intel awarded Babb the top, $100,000 scholarship award for Babb's work on identifying water quality problems in the Spanish Fork River. According to Intel, she concluded that humans, through urban and agricultural factors, have a negative effect on the water quality. Intel's Science Talent Search had 1,558 students entering the competition this year, and awarded 30 finalists to the awards. The awards are part of Intel's efforts to improve education in the areas of science, mathematics, and engineering.
