Jabber Releases AOL IM Gateway

Denver-based Jabber said today that it has released an AOL Instant Messenger gateway for its instant messaging server. The new gateway connects Jabber's popular instant messaging software with the ubiquitous AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) application. The gateway, which is sanctioned by AOL, allows Jabber Messenger customers to subscribe to send instant messages to and from AOL subscribers, see contacts lists, and subscribe to presence information. Jabber also upgraded its Windows desktop client for instant messaging to version 3.1, adding web conferencing and voice-over-IP launching from its IM interface. Jabber's products use the XCP protocol for providing instant messaging to both corporations and consumers.
