CheckpointID Gets $1.5M For ID Verification Service
Goodyear, Arizona-based CheckpointID, which provides identity verification services for the apartment rental market, announced today that it has raised $1.5M in a Series A funding round. The funding was led by RET Ventures. CheckpointID provides an ID verification service used by multifamily apartment owners and oeprators, helping them to reduce rental fraud. The company said the new funding will help it expand its team. According to CheckpointID, currently, three percent of all apartment tours begin with a forged ID, which it says allows potential renters to hide bad credit, criminal history, and other issues. The company's service operates through a device which scans IDs before apartment tours, which it says matches both the front and back of IDs through government databases.
