Denver-based
Notion, which develops smart home sensors and devices, said today that it has been selected by
Travelers Insurance for its smart home monitoring systems. According to Notion, Travelers will offer its smart home monitoring systems to Travelers customers in California. Financial details of the deal were not announced. Notion says its home monitoring system can be used to help with such issues as water leaks, fire damage, and thefts. The startup--which is venture
backed by Draper Nexus, TransLink Capital, XL Innovate, Mesh VC and others--says that non-weather water issues, including pipes bursting and appliance malfunctions, cause 20 percent of all home insurance claims, and the deal will benefit Travelers by mitigating those risks. Notion's CEO is Brett Jurgens.
