Pelion Ventures has just scored an exit out of its venture portfolio, with the acquisition yesterday of
a href="http://www.datascience.com">DataScience.com, a developer of data science software. Software giant
Oracle said on Wednesday that it has acquired DataScience, a California-based developer of machine learning software. Financial details of the acquisition were not announced. Oracle said it will add DataScience.com's platform to its Oracle Cloud, to allow its customers to "fully utilize" machine learning. DataScience was venture backed by such investors as Greycroft Partners, TenOneTen, Crosscut Ventures, and Pelion Venture Partners, and was based in Culver City, California. No details on the return for Pelion Ventures have been released, however, Pelion made its first investment in DataScience
back in 2015, as part of DataScience.com's Series A funding. Pelion's investment in DataScience.com was led by Chad Packard, who joined DataScience.com's board with that Series A funding.
